June 14 - 17, 2007
Huazhong University of Science & Technology Wuhan, People’s Republic of China

The purpose of the joint conference is to bring together university professors, business leaders, academic and professional leaders, consultants, scientists and engineers, theoreticians and practitioners, from all over the globe to present recent advances in their scientific activities, to exchange new ideas, to promote interdisciplinary / international collaborations, and to shape the current trends in systems, cybernetics and related research.

Since studies in systems and cybernetics have been increasingly related to each other and to almost every scientific discipline and human activity, their transdisciplinarity characterizes and communicates themselves, generating strong relations between them and with other disciplines.

They interpenetrate each other, integrating an organic whole of human knowledge that is permeating and influencing all corners of human activities. This phenomenon, as suggested by the more than half-century old systems movement, has motivated the IIGSS, IIGSS-CB, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology to organize this 2007 event as a multifunctional conference, containing several organizational structures, where participants can focus on either an idea crossing various traditional disciplines or a discipline, while maintaining the possibility of attending discussions and gatherings of other areas or disciplines. This systemic approach stimulates cross-fertilization among different interest areas and different scientific disciplines. This end is exactly one of the basic principles of the systems movement and a fundamental goal in cybernetics.

Topics of Interest

The following is a non-exclusive list of topics of interest to the event. All other relevant and unlisted areas are also solicited.

·         General and mathematical systems theory

·         History of the systems movement

·         Systems methodologies

·         Information systems, communication systems, complex systems, and dynamic systems

·         Systems in engineering and physical sciences

·         Systems in social, biological, and humanity sciences

·         Fuzzy systems, grey systems, pansystems and unascertained systems

·         Systems modeling, control, management, decision-making, and simulation

·         Approximate reasoning

·         Systems engineering and design

·         Environmental studies

·         Realization and validation of systems models

·         Prediction Science

·         The contemporary <<Natural-Artificial>> dualism

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

Participation of all researchers, educators and practitioners is cordially invited. Generally, papers submitted may be on: theoretical research in science and engineering, case studies drawn on professional practice, and position papers based on practical experience gained through executive/managerial practices and decision-making exercises.

Currently, we are accepting

·         Proposals for Theme-Specific Symposia, and Technical Sessions: The organizers of symposia and technical sessions will be automatically included in the organizing committee of the joint conference. The expanded organizing committee will appear in the final conference program. Each technical session will be approximately as long as two hours, consisting of 20 minutes talks. Each symposium will be a whole program, lasting as long as half a day to three days, consisting of 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and hour-long speeches. All the details can be negotiated between the organizers of symposia and the joint conference chairs.

·        Individual Presentations: Each of these presentations will be 20 minutes long.

To Participate

Deadlines(Extended)

Participants are invited to submit draft papers written in English (not exceeding six pages written A4 or letter pages per participant, otherwise additional fees will be charged according to the following fee schedule: $20.00 per additional page, containing: a) topic(s) for which the paper is being submitted; b) title of the paper; c) name(s), and affiliation of the author(s), full address, telephone, fax number and e-mail address of the corresponding author.

Accepted contributions will be included in one of the special issues of four SCI source journals or the IIGSS journals on the condition that the work is presented physically at the conference. The printed volumes will be available directly from the publishers in the year of 2007 or early 2008.
